How to Wear a Scarf in Italy
In Europe wearing a scarf is a must and every woman knows that she should never leave home without one!
As an exapt married to a native I was thrilled when a few years back I discovered Angie: also an expat, and her amazing fashion blog for Moms. I have been an avid follower of her blog ever since and am excited to get to introduce her to you today so you can see how she and other Italian women style their scarves!
Hi! I’m Angie an expat Canadian from Toronto, Ontario, who moved to Italy during a bit of a quarter life crisis! I now live in Modena, Italy, home to the Ferrari, Balsamic Vinegar, and the World’s top Chef! I’ve been working in fashion for the past 8 years and I currently write an Italian lifestyle and fashion blog, REASONSTODRESS.com
Scarves are so important in Italy, not only from an aesthetic perspective but because Italians truly believe that the neck should never be exposed to breezes or changes in temperature! You’ll find that men, women and children rarely leave the house without a scarf, especially in the fall and spring which are when most people get sick!
Italians truly believe in owning less but owning well so they tend to invest in good quality materials such as cashmere or pure silk.
Scarves are generally tied in a simple knot, or even worn loosely around the neck as part of an outfit. The great thing about them is that they are the perfect “third piece” , which adds that finishing touch to any look.
Thanks so much Angie for letting us in on how you and others wear thier scarves!
